We first flew from Chicago to Frankfurt, Germany, got off the plane only to wait in lines/go through security and get back on the same plane!
Next, we went to Mumbai, got off, waited in another very long and disorganized line, followed by a four and a half hour lay over before we finally arrived in Bangalore at 5 am local time, or about 8:30 pm in Michigan.
It's funny how cultures do things differently. For example, in the US, when you board a plane it is in a neat and orderly fashion with special zones for where you are sitting. Everyone {usually} waits their turn and doesn't cut in line. On our flight from Mumbai to Bangalore, our flight was never posted on the display and a man suddenly announced "all those going to Bangalore please board from Gate 4" and it was a free for all scramble to get to the door to try to be the first to board the plane. Not to mention, for some reason it was established that if you all stand really close together then the line will probably move faster. :) It was quite entertaining.
We slept a fair amount on the flight from Frankfurt to Mumbai, so we weren't very tired when we finally arrived in Bangalore. James Sundararajan was at the airport waiting for us and we took a bus back to the house. We had anticipated going back to sleep for a few hours but of course our bodies were too messed up to let that happen. Now we're just going to try and stay awake all day.
Well Aar is off at the fish market with James so I thought I'd give a little update while they're gone and I'm trying not to fall asleep...
wasn't sure if I'd ever see this :)
Yay for safe travels!
